The 2016 theme, "A Magical Masquerade", featured a smiling masked face to benefit the El Rio adult dental program. The whimsical design theme was carried through for the event's ads, social media posts, invitation and event collateral.

2018's traditional titled "El Rio Gala", was centered around the event chair's hand-painted pink ribbon bird to raise funds for breast cancer prevention and treatment. The bird was brought to life by being placed into vintage-inspired subdued hues of off-white and royal blue foliage and tree branches.
